Picasso at the Lapine Agile

Performed in an intimate black box with audience in cabaret-style seating, the production brought audiences into the world of a bohemian, Parisian dive bar.  Set and costume design were inspired by several paintings and art periods, so that audiences would feel immersed by art.

“The production is excellent in every degree. The simple set by Sam Gribben takes advantage of the intimate space by using the entire theatre, right down to the walls behind the audience…patrons are invited to add their own art to the bar’s walls, taking advantage of empty frames and chalk. From before the start, then, we become a part of the play. Director Holly Robison has wrung outstanding performances from her ensemble cast…Martin has created a little gift for actors, and Robison has honed it into a gift for audiences as well.” - chicagoonstage.com
